Well we're on our way, and day one was wholly uneventful, which is really what we want. It took us nearly 9 hours, with two stops, and some traffic (construction mostly).
Our first stop was a little long for Hannah, but it was worth it.
Gord loves the Big Apple Bakery on the 401 and though the weather kept us from climbing up the inside, we still had a good time exploring the put-put course, the petting zoo and the treat shop.
After a lunch and a rest we got back in and headed north once more. Today is our longest day so if we can get through this the rest will be a cake walk.
We arrived at our first destination - the home of our dear friends Jake, Marika and one-year old Natalia, in Ottawa at around 5:15. Jake was expected home from a week long fishing trip in Northern Ontario that afternoon and Mar was waiting with dinner!
After dinner the babies retired to their rooms and G and I settled down for a movie in bed before sleep took us.
What a great first day.
